Faculty of Science is one of the pioneer Faculties of Federal University Otuoke, founded in 2011. Faculty of Sciences has six programmes under three Departments.
Chemical Sciences Department has only Chemistry programme, Biological Sciences Department has Biochemistry and Microbiology programmes, while Mathematical, Computer and Physical Sciences Department has Computer Science and Informatics, Mathematics and Statistics and Physics and Electronics with Power programme.
Our programmes are designed to expose our students to world class training in the field of Pure and Applied Sciences with a link to other areas in Social Sciences, Entrepreneurial Studies and General Studies.
Presently, the Faculty has 530 students with a staff strength of 152. Out of this 40 percent are Academic, 21 are Technical and 10 Administrative while the remaining 29 percent are Support staff. The Academic Staff to Student ratio is 1:9 while the General Staff to Student ratio is 1:4.
The Faculty has equipped lecture rooms in a conducive environment for teaching and learning, The Physics, Chemistry and Biology Laboratories all have world class standard equipment for practical sessions under the guidance of Certified Professional Laboratory Technologists.
We ensure that student-lecturer relationship is deliberately created and nurtured to enable our students get the best during their programmes. This is achieved by having regular Faculty and Departmental interactive sessions where matters are deliberated upon.
For the sake of exposure we also ensure that our students embark on excursions to relevant Industries, Organizations or Firms within and outside our locality.
The Faculty takes seriously matters on research and it has currently under its umbrella three Research Groups. All of us are aligned to the overall mission and vision of Federal University Otuoke and our lecturers and students are encouraged to conduct cutting-edge research to bring about innovations that will enhance the socio-economic development of the Niger Delta.
